DOES COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE HURT?
The needles used are tiny, finer than half of your hair strand. Overall, it’s not painful and extremely relaxing. Some areas of the face are more sensitive, so one can feel a very quick sting, but that lasts less than a second. Most people don’t find it painful, however we are all different, and a small percentage are more sensitive than others. I respectfully work with where you're at, and never push you past your comfort level. Creating a safe space for you is my number one priority, and the scariest thing here is just getting over the mental fear.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
Depends on what your goals are. If you're wanting an instant sculpt, lift and glow, a 120 minute treatment is recommended once a month or before an event. However, if you'r wanting to replace botox/ filler/ treating facial pathologies, 8-12 regular treatments are recommended for best results. These can be booked as a 60/90 minute treatment, depending on the concerns. When maintained, results can last for years.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
After the first session, the first thing many people notice is more refreshed, tight, lifted and glowing skin, like they have just come back from a relaxing holiday. If there is puffiness, this is also significantly reduced.
This is a treatment that is working with your body’s own resources, so it varies according to your overall state of health and age.
If your goal is to replace botox, fillers/ work on a pathology, it’s a cumulative treatment plan, where each session builds on the next. It takes the body 5-7 weeks to build collagen, so it’s at this stage of the treatment course where we start to see fine lines minimise and deep wrinkles soften. The best results are seen at weeks 8-12, where the skin is more lifted, tighter, hydrated and lines further softened.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?
Please bring a scarf, even a light scarf if it’s warm outside. The Neck needs to be covered after lymphatic cupping.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME WITH THE TREATMENT?
This is a nourishing and gentle treatment so there is no downtime. We recommend to take it easy after a session and not overly exert yourself, as the treatment will continue to work after the needles are out. This way the results will be even deeper. The most common effect after a treatment is some face flushing, which is temporary and normal, due to increased circulation. Rarely there may be minor bruising at the site of insertion, which resolves quickly.

IS COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE SAFE DURING PREGNANCY?
Yes, it’s safe. This is a time when many people discover cosmetic acupuncture, as they can no longer get injectibles. Please inform the practitioner, as the treatment protocol needs to be adjusted.

WHAT IF I HAVE BOTOX/ FILLERS?
Please wait 4 weeks after botox, and 3 months for fillers. Please ask your provider their recommendations for wait time following injections. Cosmetic acupuncture promotes blood and lymph flow and opens up blocked muscles, bringing the skin back to life again. It’s a good reset of the skin in between injectables.

WHAT MAKES THIS TREATMENT SO SPECIAL?
Helena has travelled the world to undergo extensive training, in order to deliver a unique, next level treatment that you won’t get anywhere else. More information about this is in her bio. Most cosmetic acupuncture works on the acupuncture points and local collagen induction. However, Helena also works on the individual facial muscles, to get even better results. This is a highly specialised treatment she learnt in Korea, involving a significant amount of training. She is only one of two people in Australia to offer this.

WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE THIS OVER A CONVENTIONAL FACIAL?
The skin reflects the overall state of your health, so treating it with standard surface level treatments is unlikely to give you lasting results. Rapid ageing, dull tone and pain are all due to stagnation of blood, qi and lymph. If the pathways that nourish tissue are blocked, the cells die, and accumulate waste products and inflammation. There are 43 intricate muscles on the face, and they group together to express different emotions. These muscles overly contract with stress, or become flaccid. This treatment works on the root level by opening up these muscles, fascia, ligaments, bone and meridians, so that everything can circulate with life-force again. Frozen emotions stored in these muscles are also released.
Whilst the osteo-facial treatment does this too with the nurturing benefit of touch, this treatment goes even deeper with results, as it treats the bodies systems, by utilising acupuncture.
